Runners often worry about injuries, whether it's a recurring issue or the fear of a new one, as injuries can significantly impact training and race participation.
Busy schedules make finding time for consistent training challenging. Many runners struggle to balance work, family, and other commitments with their running routines.
Lack of Motivation
Staying motivated, especially during periods of plateau or when facing setbacks, can be a common challenge for runners.
Nutrition and Hydration
Proper fuelling is crucial for performance and recovery, and many runners struggle to maintain a balanced diet and hydration regimen.
Endurance running can take a toll on mental stamina. Runners often experience mental fatigue during long races or intensive training sessions.
Inadequate recovery can lead to fatigue, muscle soreness, and a higher risk of injury. Finding effective recovery strategies is a concern for many runners.
Monotony and Boredom
Running the same routes or following the same training plans can lead to boredom, affecting both motivation and performance.
Plateaus in performance improvement can be frustrating. Many runners struggle with breaking through performance plateaus and continually challenging themselves.
Balancing Strength Training
Integrating strength training into a running routine is essential for injury prevention and improved performance, but many runners find it challenging to balance both effectively.

"I’ve been training with Matt for the last 4 weeks now, and believe he is one of the best & committed trainers around Caversham.
I really enjoyed the variety of exercises & challenges he put into the workout plan & then took on a personal one-on-one session as well!
My fitness has increased noticeably, and I've seen improvement in my stamina & been able to cover an 8 km distance within 4 weeks now. Matt focused on helping in achieving my goals and took care to adjust the workout plan as per my schedule with the consideration of keeping me on track to achieve the set goal." - Hemant C
"If you are thinking about running or need professional support to improve then try the RunStrong Project. Matt will sort you out and make it fun. He got me round the London Marathon- nuff said!" - Jon N
I can’t even begin to explain how much Matt and Wendy have helped me with my running journey. I couldn’t run 5km in January and completed my first 10km race last weekend. They have been so supportive and motivating throughout, not to mention how much more confident I am in myself not only in running but in everyday life. There is no way I would still be running consistently if I was on this journey on my own. Can’t recommend the Run Strong Project enough." - Jasmine P
"I have been running since a teenager but in recent years hadn’t really worked to a programme or been coached in anyway. As a result, I felt I wasn’t seeing much change in my abilities, and wasn’t making the most of the gym and other activities to bolster my abilities as a runner. And to be honest I was bored.
I wanted to get excited about running again and exercise in general. I also wanted to see the difference a concerted effort might make. I chose to work with Matt and The Runstrong Project because I could see the variety on offer and respected the huge amount of knowledge Matt brought to it. He is genuinely excited about helping people and bringing the fun and challenge back into exercise and this made the whole thing so much more enjoyable and achievable.
Through the programme I saw some major changes in my body shape, strength and overall abilities and I’m pleased to say I began really enjoying running again. The kettlebell glute and core strengthening in particular hugely helped me reduce injuries and has been a huge benefit to all my sporting activities, so there is no question I would highly recommend Hoops and this programme!" - Jenni M
"Sunday was world mental health day AND (as you all know..sorry about that;) I ran my first ever marathon.
Over and above all the obvious health benefits, running has taught me to respect and love my body for its beauty in its strength and ability. It has taught me how strong the mind is and that you really can do almost anything if you put your mind to it. It has shown me how resilient and resourceful I can be and provided me with those moments of light and space when things have felt tough.
A huge thank you to you lovely people for all your cheerleading, support, sponsorship and notes of encouragement. I have been completely blown away. A mahoosive thanks to my running coach Matt Hooper who’s program and support has got me here in 18 months" Catherine W18 months ago I couldn’t even run to the end of my road.
"I've worked with Matt over the past 8 weeks, and his guidance and support have enabled me to make a step change in my relationship with running. From running short distances once a week, I worked with Matt to get me running more frequently, longer distances and to prepare for a local 10k event. I surpassed all my targets and felt great doing it, which wouldn't have been possible without Matt's training plans, advice and encouragement. Highly recommended!" - David T

Under Matt’s guidance I’ve completed multiple half marathons and most recently a marathon which was a great personal achievement. Would definitely recommend Matt’s services for any runner looking to make progress and reach their next goals." Alex P
