Amateur runners without a coach or training plan often face challenges such as inconsistent progress
- Lack of structure in their training
- Increased risk of injury due to improper technique
- Plateauing in performance
- Difficulty in setting and achieving specific goals
- Struggling to stay motivated and accountable in their training regimen
Incorporating kettlebell training into a runner's regimen is crucial as it helps in improving core strength, stability, and overall functional fitness. Kettlebell exercises target multiple muscle groups simultaneously, enhancing running performance, reducing the risk of injury, and promoting better posture and running form. Additionally, kettlebell training can increase power, endurance, and balance, all of which are essential for a well-rounded and successful running program.
I am so thankful to Matt and The Run Strong Project for supporting me through the London Marathon, everything you could possibly need from a coaching program and an amazing running community. Matt's program was perfectly personalised to my ability level and target goal, I was able to not only complete London Marathon but smash my PB by 10 minutes! So much more than just a running program, with strength workouts, cross training and soft tissue therapy all included in the plan, and adjusted as needed during training to support the inevitable injuries which will occur when taking on the mammoth task of a marathon, the 1-2-1 sessions are flexible to your needs and Matt will make you feel 100% supported throughout. I have been introduced to an amazing running community, the Run Strong group sessions keep you motivated to stick to your training schedule, always some friendly company on the longer training runs, but if you're just starting out as new runner then all abilities are catered for, I can highly recommend The Run Strong Project to runners of all abilities. Looking forward to planning my next challenge with you!

I’ve worked with Matt over the last two years to improve and focus my running training. Under Matt’s guidance I’ve completed multiple half marathons and most recently a marathon which was a great personal achievement. Would definitely recommend Matt’s services for any runner looking to make progress and reach their next goals.

As a kid I was a sprinter and loved competing. Whether it was racing in the playground, at the local park or on the track running is in my blood. In my early to mid teens I had worked hard enough represent my school, running club and the county at a national level at multiple sprint distances and disciplines. Short and fast was my passion both on the track and football or rugby pitch. However the thought of running more than 400m felt boring and unnecessary. Fast forward to 2008 and a serious motorbike accident nearly claimed my left leg and left me with traumatic muscle and soft tissue damage that required a year of intensive and continuous rehabilitation. This both marked my retirement from team sports and heightened my appreciation and gratitude for the simple ability to be able to walk and run. Searching for a way to build functional strength and challenge myself I came across the kettlebell and started learning how to use this to get stronger than ever. After a full recover I entered my first 5k (which was an epic learning experience where I set off like an 8 year old on Haribo only to feel like my lungs were going to come out of ears after 2k) and I was hooked. My mission now is to teach runners of all abilities to build a strong and healthy body and mind so that they can achieve their running goals and build a habitual healthy lifestyle.
